From Grass Valley take Highway 20 North towards I-80.
Go past Bear Valley (Bear Valley is at the bottom of a long hill where
there's a straight stretch about ½ mile long and meadows on both sides).
Turn left onto Bowman Road about ½ mile past Bear Valley.
Follow Bowman Road for about 11½ miles past Fuller lake and the
"Grouse Ridge Lookout Road."
The road turns to gravel right at "Texas Creek" (look for a small sign).
About 50 yards after the creek turn right onto a little dirt road
which leads to the camping/playing area about ¾ mile the way up.
(The road is a bit rough, so bring your 4x4 if you have one. Cars and
mini-vans are able to get in there, but not without a little scraping.)
If you're coming from the Sacramento, head East on I-80 towards Reno.
If you're coming from the Reno, head West on I-80 towards Sacramento.
Stay on I-80 all the way until you come to the Highway 20 Exit.
Take the Highway 20 exit and head South towards Grass Valley.
About 4½ miles from I-80 turn right onto Bowman Road.
